Disney Photo of the Day #4: WEDway People Mover

Or maybe you know it as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. It's hard to keep track of what it's name is anymore with all the times it's been changed recently! But whatever you call it, I love this ride. It's so overlooked because it doesn't "do anything" or "go anywhere"- but there's so much more to it besides the air conditioning and chance to rest your feet, or if you're that person, sleep. The history of the People Mover, though, is what makes it so special. Walt loved this idea of transportation and actually originally intended for it to be a way to get anywhere and everywhere, primarily for Epcot, back when it was going to be a functioning city. As a boy, he loved trains, and this was kind of like his modern, futuristic version of train transportation. In the city, it would have kept people from having to drive themselves or hop busses to get to work. Obviously, though, the city was never realized, so what remains is our WEDway People Mover in the Magic Kingdom!
